Join QEF and special celebrity guest speaker Joe Swift for the 2018 Ladies Autumn Lunch at Epsom Downs Racecourse to raise funds for a new accessible garden.
Joe is a familiar gardening face having been a regular presenter on BBC Gardeners World since 1998. He also anchors the BBC coverage of the Chelsea Flower show as well as other RHS shows and several BBC gardening series over the years. Joe is a fully qualified garden designer and over the years he has designed many gardens for both private clients and TV. In 2012 he won a Gold medal at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show. He has recently completed an award winning pocket park with Dame Zandra Rhodes in Bermondsey and is currently working on a Horatio’s Garden (a registered charity) for the spinal unit at Stoke Mandeville Hospital.
He writes for The Times weekend magazine, Gardeners World magazine and Radio Times Magazine and has written three books.
The proceeds raised from this event will go towards an accessible garden in the new specialist Care and Rehabilitation Centre (CRC) at Leatherhead Court. The centre will be home to QEF’s Neuro Rehabilitation Services and will deliver specialist brain injury rehabilitative therapies to the highest standards.
Spending quality time in the garden is therapeutic for everyone, and especially appreciated by our residents who have typically spent many months recovering in hospital. Each of the ground floor rooms will have their own door to access the garden directly. There will be accessible paths, raised beds to help people to tend the plants from their wheelchairs, and areas for residents and their families to enjoy time together.
